Here are four scenic walks along the Wales Coast Path you can try out this National Walking Month.
New Quay to Aberaeron
6.5 mile walk
Enjoy not one but two colourful towns when you walk from Aberaeron to New Quay along the Wales Coast Path.
This walk can take between 3 to 4 hours - longer if you can’t help but photograph the scenery along the way. Enjoy Aberaeron harbour as you begin, surrounded by colourful boats and buildings. Out of Aberaeron, walk through the wildflowers dotted throughout the path, where you can find bluebells, orchids and primroses.
The coastal path leads to the beach, where you’ll be greeted with views of picturesque New Quay. Make sure you check tide times so you’re able to access the beach walk.
Once you arrive in New Quay, treat yourself to some well-deserved fish and chips by the harbour and try to spot some dolphins. Hop on the T5 back to Aberaeron.
New Quay
3 mile walk
Keen to explore more of New Quay along the Wales Coast Path? Why not try out a shorter walk to enjoy the town’s history.
The walk is 3 miles, taking between 1 - 2 hours to complete depending on your pace. Perfect for a calm day, walking the Wales Coast Path in New Quay gives you time to embrace the town’s historic quirks.
Start the walk at the east harbour wall, leading you to the coastal path panel. Walk in Dylan Thomas’ footsteps through the seaside town that inspired ‘Under Milk Wood.’ Keep an eye out as you wander along the Cardigan Bay coastline for harbour porpoises.
Fishguard to Newport
7-8 mile walk
For rugged scenery and clifftop trails this National Walking Month, try Fishguard to Newport.
Charming Fishguard is a great central hub for the Wales Coast Path in Pembrokeshire. This rewarding section offers dramatic cliffs and sweeping views across Cardigan Bay, surrounded by wildlife. Perfect for coastal photography, expect secluded coves and sandy beaches as you explore.
For a longer walk with more picturesque views, extend your walk via the iconic Dinas Head.
Dinas Head is one of the most photographed peninsulas on the Pembrokeshire coast for good reason. Formed during the Ice Age, the high cliffs offer breathtaking views and the chance to spot a range of birdlife.
With the help of our hourly T5 service, your walk is made smoother with convenient bus stops in both Fishguard and Newport.
Cardigan to Aberporth
11.7 mile walk
Last but not least is Cardigan to Aberporth, a longer coastal walk where you’ll reap the scenic and historic rewards.
Known as the ‘Gateway to Wales’, Cardigan is where the Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire Coastal paths meet. Farmland, riverside and cliff trails are all part of this walk, where you can enjoy views over Cardigan Bay at Cemaes Head.
Welcomed by sandy beaches perfect for a swim, Aberporth is full of maritime history dating back to the 16th century. Treat yourself to a pub meal when you arrive - The Ship Inn offers freshly cooked dishes overlooking sea views.
Stopping in both Cardigan and Aberporth, our T5 service is the perfect way to support your coastal walk.
West Wales is one of many beautiful parts of the Wales Coast Path you can explore this National Walking Month. Making use of our T5 bus service means you can explore without a car and celebrate National Walking Month sustainably.
