Love Parks Week

25 July to 3 August 2025

Did you know that green spaces in Wales have been awarded more Community Green Flags than any other country in the world?

We’re spoilt for choice with the number of beautiful parks Wales has to offer. To celebrate Love Parks Week, why not visit one? We’ve gathered a list of green spaces you can get to with TrawsCymru to make the most of the summer sun, and experience some of the natural beauty across Wales. It was hard to narrow down!

Parc Natur Penglais, Aberystwyth

Just a short walk from Aberystwyth Bus Station is the beautiful Parc Natur Penglais, located on the site of an old quarry. Surrounded by woodland and with many different walking paths to choose from, this park is popular with locals and tourists alike for good reason. From stunning views overlooking Aberystwyth to the field of bluebells at the height of spring, there’s plenty to enjoy at Parc Natur Penglais.

Hop on the T1, T1C, T2, T5 or T28 which stop at Aberystwyth Bus Station and walk just under 10 minutes to the park.

Brecon Beacons

Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons)

Could it be Love Parks Week without mentioning the iconic Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park? If you want to experience spectacular views in one of the most popular green spaces in Wales, this National Park is home to the perfect place: Pen y Fan. Offering four scenic routes ranging from easy to hard and the famous photo-op at its peak, Pen y Fan is a real crowd-pleaser.

You can hop on the T4 which takes you straight to the base of Pen y Fan in Brecon for £1! This offer ends on 30 August, find out more here: Pen y Fan for £1

Bute Park

Bute Park, Cardiff

It wouldn’t be a trip to Cardiff without visiting the iconic Bute Park. Home to a variety of beautiful flowers and wildlife to line your walk, Bute Park offers scenic paths, interactive activities and river views whilst crossing the wobbly bridge. We wouldn’t blame you for forgetting you’re in the middle of a city when walking through this green haven. To top off your trip, pop into Servini’s for a coffee and a roll.

You can catch the T1C to Cardiff and make your way towards Cardiff Castle where you will soon find Bute Park.

Loggerheads Country Park, Mold

If you’re looking for a stroll through beautiful woodland and a river valley, Loggerheads Country Park is for you. Wander along the winding river, explore the mining history and take in the beautiful views on routes that are perfect for families and dog walkers to enjoy. After your stroll through the park, head to Caffi Florence for a hot drink and a sweet treat.

No need to pay for parking, just take the T8 which stops just outside the Loggerheads Country Park Visitor Centre.

Victoria Park, Swansea

Wandering around Swansea and fancy a walk in the park? Nestled within the city is Victoria Park, a regular winner of the Community Green Flag Awards. Including tennis courts, a children’s play area and gardens to explore, this park has something for everyone. Whether you’d like an ice cream on a bench to watch the world go by or a play area to explore with the family, this hidden gem is the perfect option. If you can, try to stop by at the Sunday market that is hosted at the park on the first Sunday of every month.

Victoria Park is just under a 20-minute walk from Swansea Bus Station, where the T6 bus stops.

Bellevue Park, Wrexham

A play area, sports areas and plenty of benches - Bellevue Park has all the hallmarks of a great city-centre park. Popular with the local community, this park has something for everyone, whether you’re looking for family fun, dog-friendly routes or a sit-down to enjoy the wildlife. The park also boasts a bandstand with a music programme throughout the summer, perfect for warmer evenings to spend outside.

Concerned about the limited car parking? Hop on the T3 which stops under a 10-minute walk away from Bellevue Park.

Ogwen Valley

Eryri National Park, Snowdonia

Eryri National Park is the oldest and biggest of Wales’ National Parks. With so many different beautiful areas to choose from, we’re recommending a visit to the breath-taking Ogwen valley. Armed with your hiking boots, you can experience stunning views across the glacial valley and explore the breath-taking scenery hidden in Eryri.

You can hop on the T10, which runs through the park and stops at Ogwen.

Strumble Head Lighthouse

Pembrokeshire Coast National Park

Glorious coastline, beautiful countryside and colourful wildlife: welcome to Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Nestled along the coast is Fishguard, a small fishing village that provides the perfect backdrop for a stroll to enjoy breath-taking views. From picturesque beach walks to grassy peaks, you’re spoilt for choice with the scenery.

Hop on the T5 which runs through Fishguard. You could also book a fflecsi bus to take you to Strumble Head Lighthouse where if you’re lucky, you’ll spot some dolphins.
