If you’re living in Wales and are over 60 or have a disability, you can apply for a concessionary travel card through Transport for Wales. This provides free bus travel on most bus services in Wales, and all TrawsCymru bus services.
Your concessionary card allows you to travel around Wales sustainably, explore new areas and enjoy your free time. Here is some handy information around concessionary cards so you can make the most out of yours.
How to apply for your concessionary travel card
You can apply for your concessionary card through Transport for Wales. The application process takes around 10 minutes, and all you need is:
- Your National Insurance number
- The name of your local council
- A digital passport-style photograph of yourself
- Proof of name and age, such as a driving license, passport or birth certificate
- Two proofs of address, such as a utility bill and electoral roll registration
You can apply for a concessionary card up to 14 days before your 60th birthday.
Once your application is approved, it should take up to 10 working days to arrive.
How to use your concessionary card
Once it’s arrived, using your concessionary card on our buses is simple:
- Show your card to the driver
- Place your card on the ticket reader, where you’ll hear a beep as confirmation
