mytravelpass (16-21 year olds)
Our ‘mytravelpass 16 - 21’ tickets provide a discount on adult fares for mytravelpass holders. If you’re buying a ticket from the driver on board the bus, simply show them your mytravelpass when you ask for a ticket. If you’re buying these tickets on our app, you’ll need to verify your pass to prove your eligibility. ‘mytravelpass 16 – 21’ app tickets can only be used for travel once verification is complete.
What is mytravelpass (MTP)
mytravelpass is a scheme funded by the Welsh Government to provide discounted bus fares to young people. It provides people in Wales aged 16 to 21 with approx 1/3 off their bus fare.
You can use mytravelpass at any time of day and on any day of the week that the services operate, including weekends and bank holidays.
There is no restriction on the type of journey you make when you use mytravelpass. Your journey can be for school or college, visiting friends and leisure.
How do I verify my pass?
Once you’ve received your mytravelpass, you’ll need to log in to your TrawsCymru app account, or create one if you haven’t already used the app, then follow the steps below. You’ll only need to verify your pass once as it will remain linked to your account until it expires on your 22nd birthday.
- Buy a ‘mytravelpass 16 - 21 ticket’ on the app
- Click ‘Get verified’
- Upload a photo* of yourself – a selfie will do
- Upload a photo of your mytravelpass
- Keep an eye on your emails. You’ll receive an email when your pass has been verified.
*Photos: In your photo you’ll need to be facing forward and looking straight at the camera. Your photo must be clear and in focus and unaltered / not filtered. We use your photo to verify your ID and show it on your ticket so the driver can verify it is you. You won't be able to change your photo after it's been verified.
How long will it take to verify my pass?
Verification can take up to 48 hours but is often much quicker than that. You can still use your mytravelpass to buy tickets on the bus from the driver at a discounted rate while your pass is being verified.
