Looking for family-friendly fun this half term? From October 26 to November 3, take advantage of TrawsCymru’s convenient bus services to explore exciting destinations across Wales. Whether it’s an educational trip or an outdoor adventure, we’ve got you covered.

Chester Cathedral

Chester Cathedral is an ideal half-term destination that combines history, culture, and family-friendly activities. Whether you’re interested in exploring its architectural wonders, engaging in interactive workshops, or simply enjoying the serene gardens, Chester Cathedral offers a memorable experience for all ages. 

Simply hop on the T8 bus service, which provides convenient access to the area. From the Pepper Street bus stop, it’s only a 7-minute walk to the cathedral, making it an accessible destination for all.

Aberystwyth Cliff Railway

Climb aboard the Aberystwyth Cliff Railway, the longest electric funicular railway in Britain, and enjoy breathtaking views of Cardigan Bay from the top of Constitution Hill. At the summit, explore the Camera Obscura, a giant camera offering panoramic views, and take a leisurely stroll along the hilltop trails. It’s an ideal spot for family picnics, offering plenty of space to explore and take in the stunning scenery.

Hop on a T1, T2, or T5 bus service, which provides convenient access to Aberystwyth. From the bus stop, it’s just a 13-to-15-minute walk to the railway, making it a straightforward outing for families.

Dan-yr-Ogof

Dan-yr-Ogof, the National Showcaves Centre for Wales, is an exhilarating half-term destination that promises adventure for the whole family. Step into a magical underground world of stunning caves, roaring waterfalls, and fascinating prehistoric exhibits that spark curiosity and ignite imaginations. Kids will love exploring the enchanting caverns and discovering the secrets of the past, while outdoor attractions like dinosaur park and adventure playground ensure plenty of fun.

Hop on the T6 bus which stops right outside the entrance, for a great day out.

Chepstow Castle 

Step back in time to one of the oldest surviving stone castles in Britain. Chepstow Castle offers a fascinating glimpse into medieval life and is perfect for a family day out. The castle’s towering walls and battlements offer plenty of places to explore, and its location along the River Wye provides stunning views. With interactive displays and family-friendly trails, this destination offers a perfect mix of history and adventure for a half–term day out. 

Take the T7 service to Chepstow, with the castle just a short 5-minute walk from the bus stop.

St Davids Bishop’s Palace and St Davids Cathedral

St Davids Bishop’s Palace is a captivating half-term destination that immerses families in the rich history of Wales.
